The judicial panel stated in its reasoning that Silas Olofson exemplarily meets the requirements for the media award, as he excels in conveying his knowledge and research to the public in an easily understandable manner.

In a recommendation for awarding him the media prize, it was noted that “Silas is a living encyclopedia, a role model, and incredibly skilled in storytelling. No question is too trivial; he always answers at eye level.”

Silas Olofson expressed his astonishment at receiving the honor, saying he felt as though he was almost flying, as he had not anticipated it at all.

“I have always been interested in birds, but it started with a teacher in Fuglafjørður, Aleksandur Kristiansen, who took the time to answer questions and ignited my interest,” he explained.

“I am particularly grateful for the honor if it can spark interest in nature. We have a truly fantastic environment to protect,” Olofson added in his acceptance speech.

The Science Fair, which has been traveling around the country since mid-September, concluded with a media celebration in the Maritime House in Tórshavn.
