The Finnish housing market is showing early signs of recovery, according to the CEO of the national Housing Fair organisation, speaking as the event opened in Lempäälä on Friday.
Joran Hasenson, managing director of Suomen Asuntomessut, said consumer confidence is now at its highest level in four years, with banks more willing to approve loans and construction costs stabilising. He expects rising confidence to first boost detached house sales, then spread to apartment markets and eventually revive broader construction activity.
This year’s fair, running until 9 August, features 30 properties including a school, an apartment building, two terraced houses, two semi-detached houses, a townhouse, and 19 single-family homes. Organisers anticipate 100,000 visitors, drawn by the central location of the Saika area in Pirkanmaa.
Among the exhibits is a multigenerational home, a rare model in Finland where less than one percent of families live under the same roof across generations. The fair also showcases a school building reflecting current trends in education, moving from open learning spaces to flexible classrooms.
