Staff at the newly opened Aalborg University Hospital in North Jutland have no dedicated storage space, forcing some to leave work clothes and personal items in bags on the floor, DR reports.

The hospital, set for an official inauguration by Queen Mary on May 12, has already begun operations—but many departments report frustration over inadequate locker facilities. Rikke Vingaard Jørgensen, a union representative for nurses and radiographers, said the shortage adds to the stress of relocating to the new site.

“Having a secure locker is essential for a sense of stability,” Jørgensen told DR. “Right now, staff are sharing lockers or booking them shift by shift. Some have resorted to storing clean uniforms and shoes in IKEA bags on the floor.”

The lack of storage risks undermining morale and recruitment, she warned: “We need an attractive workplace. If colleagues are unhappy, I worry about whether new applicants will even want to work here.”

Region North Jutland acknowledged the issue, stating that shared lockers are a temporary solution while a working group—including employee representatives—develops a permanent model expected by late summer.
