Finland’s net payment to the European Union rose by 15 euros per person last year, reaching 70 euros, Yle reported, citing the Ministry of Finance.

Finland is a net contributor, meaning it receives less money from the EU than it pays in. The figures do not capture all the benefits of membership, including the open internal market and free movement.

The Netherlands, Germany and Sweden were the largest net contributors. Around half of the EU funding received by Finland goes to various forms of agricultural support.
