A staircase at Dybbølsbro Station in Copenhagen has been closed again after a man fell about five metres through it on Wednesday evening, DR reports.
Copenhagen Police received the report at 22:46. The man fell through the middle of the staircase, which connects Copenhagen’s long-distance bus terminal on Carsten Niebuhrs Gade with Dybbølsbro. Police said they could not provide information about his condition because no criminal act had taken place.
The Danish Road Directorate, which built the staircase and is responsible for its safety, is investigating why a step gave way. It said the staircase remains closed while it works to find a way to reopen it safely.
The staircase was also closed about two months after the bus terminal opened on 6 June 2024, after concerns it could collapse. It was built in September 2023 alongside the terminal, which cost 165 million kroner after delays and technical problems. The Road Directorate said it has carried out regular inspections since the first closure, which was caused by structural problems.
