Sweden’s Svea Court of Appeal is due to deliver its ruling today in the case against former national security adviser Henrik Landerholm, who was acquitted by a district court. SVT reports that the ruling is expected at 11 a.m.
Landerholm was acquitted in September 2025 by Attunda District Court of a charge of careless handling of classified information. Prosecutors appealed the verdict.
The district court found that the documents were classified and had been disclosed, but ruled that Landerholm had been negligent rather than grossly negligent. That distinction led to his acquittal, according to Dagens Nyheter reporter Kristoffer Örstadius, who helped reveal the case.
The documents were left in an unlocked safe at the Gällöfsta course centre, north of Stockholm, in March 2023. Landerholm has said he forgot them while taking other items from the safe before travelling home. He has also said a demanding work situation could explain why he left them behind, and denies any crime.
