Faroese competition authority rejects appeal over postal service contract
The Faroese Competition Appeals Tribunal has ruled that the small business association Petra did not have the right to appeal a decision clearing the national postal service Posta of anti-competitive practices, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The case centred on allegations that Posta abused its dominant market position when Tórshavn Municipality solicited bids for a contract to deliver meals to homebound pensioners. Three bids were submitted, with Posta offering the lowest price and Petra the second-lowest.
The Faroese Competition Authority had previously determined that Posta’s winning bid did not violate competition law. The Appeals Tribunal upheld this decision, stating that Petra lacked an individual and significant interest in the matter, thereby disqualifying its right to appeal under Faroese competition regulations.
