In the recent children’s election for 2024, the Center Party emerged as the clear winner, according to a collaboration between the Children’s Commissioner and KrakkaRÚV. Over 6,000 young voters participated from more than 70 schools, marking a record turnout for this event.

Each participating party created a one-minute video to present their platform, which was screened for the children prior to voting. The Pirates placed second in the votes, followed by the Democracy Party in third. Invalid and blank ballots accounted for 5.2% of the total votes cast.

This children’s election drew significant attention over the past week, particularly in coverage on children’s news outlets.

In other political developments, members of parliament have raised concerns regarding the dining services at the Althingi, warning of potential health risks associated with poor dietary choices. Additionally, there is noteworthy discussion among politicians about the impact of recent electoral challenges on government stability, amid calls for members to be more proactive in their legislative roles.
