Finnish government increases Metsähallitus revenue contribution to national treasury
The Finnish government, led by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, has announced an increase in the annual revenue that Metsähallitus, the state-owned enterprise managing Finland’s forests, will contribute to the national treasury, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Today, the government’s economic policy ministerial committee outlined its ownership policy for Metsähallitus through 2027. At the start of this new ownership policy period, Metsähallitus is expected to generate approximately €125 million for the state annually, with projections rising to around €140 million by the end of the period.
The ministry clarified that this increase in revenue does not require an uplift in timber harvesting targets from Finland’s state forests.
