Kesäranta opens Finnish prime minister’s residence to public

Kesäranta, the Finnish prime minister’s official residence in Helsinki, is holding an open house today, Yle reports.

Visitors can tour the reception rooms in the main building and the grounds. Guides will explain the history and architecture of Kesäranta, which was completed in 1873.

No advance registration is required. The residence is open to visitors from 9am to 4pm, and people joining the queue by 4pm will still be admitted.

The interior spaces are not accessible. The Finnish government advises visitors to expect queues and security checks. Food, liquids, lighters, matches, umbrellas and pets are not allowed.

Visitors are encouraged to use public transport because there is no parking near Kesäranta.
