Finnish cities light landmarks blue for migraine day

Landmarks across Finland are being lit blue today to mark European Migraine Day, Yle reports.

The lighting campaign aims to make the invisible illness visible and show support for people living with the world’s most common neurological disease, the Finnish Migraine Association says.

Landmarks taking part include the Library Bridge in Turku, the cultural centre in Espoo, the city halls of Rauma and Lappeenranta, the towers of the city theatres in Oulu and Kuopio, and the waterfall in Sapokka Park in Kotka.

The Finnish Migraine Association estimates that migraine affects 850,000 people in Finland, or about 15 percent of the population. It is more common among women than men.
