Copenhagen University ranked 97 in Times Higher Education list of top universities
Copenhagen University (KU) has once again secured a spot among the world’s top 100 universities, ranking at 97 on the annual Times Higher Education list. It is the only Danish university in this prestigious category, having previously been ranked 96 in 2022.
David Dreyer Lassen, the university’s pro-rector for research, commented that the list reflects an institution’s international reputation. He believes the university’s ranking could be higher if it had more international students, as this would enhance global recognition. “Danish universities are quietly brilliant,” he noted.
The universities on this list are assessed based on five indicators: learning environment, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and business collaboration. Lassen mentioned that the university pays attention to the rankings mainly when there are significant fluctuations, which he does not believe have occurred in recent years.
Topping the list is the University of Oxford in the UK, which has held the first position for the past nine years. All universities in the top 10 are either from the United States or the United Kingdom, with ETH Zurich being the highest-ranked European institution at number 11.
The top 10 universities are:
1. University of Oxford (UK)
2. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA)
3. Harvard University (USA)
4. Princeton University (USA)
5. University of Cambridge (UK)
