Police arrest man carrying large quantity of drugs
Police arrested a man carrying a large quantity of drugs in central Reykjavík, mbl.is reported. The arrest was among several incidents recorded in the police diary between 5am and 5pm on Friday.
Two drivers were arrested in central Reykjavík on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. One was also banned from driving. One person remained in police custody when the report was published.
Police received a noise complaint in postal code 102, which covers Vatnsmýri and Skerjafjörður, as well as a report of pickpocketing in the city centre.
Two shoplifting incidents were reported in Reykjavík’s Háaleiti and Bústaðir neighbourhoods. A report of suspicious people in Laugardalur turned out to have been a misunderstanding when police arrived.
At Police Station 2, which serves Hafnarfjörður, Garðabær and Álftanes, an alleged driver was stopped for going through a red light. The driver was also found to have no valid driving licence. Another driver was charged with speeding.
