Swedish Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin says organisations must act quickly to strengthen cybersecurity after refrigeration systems in grocery stores were hacked, SVT reported. The government is monitoring the affected businesses, and several government agencies are involved and in contact with them.
“The deteriorating security situation and rapid technological development mean everyone must act swiftly to close security gaps,” Bohlin said in a comment to SVT. He also urged organisations to review their cybersecurity and IT systems.
Stores in Belgium, Luxembourg, Estonia and Ireland have also reported hacked freezers and refrigerators. A similar incident was detected in France on October 12, affecting hundreds of stores.
