Messages between Íris Helga Jónatansdóttir and a man accused of smearing feces on her former boyfriend’s home and car appeared in court on Monday, mbl.is reported. The main hearing in the case against Íris began at the District Court of Reykjanes.

One message from the man said, “Dirty job done.” Íris told the court that he was a close friend and the only person who had not turned his back on her during the case. She said they had discussed carrying out the act but had never intended to do it.

Prosecutors pointed to messages in which Íris gave the man directions to the couple’s home and said, “Oh, you. At least I’m home with a good alibi.” After the man told her the act had been carried out, she called him a “genius,” described the couple as “scum” and raised the possibility of smearing feces on their car next.

Íris denied knowing the act had been carried out, saying there was a difference between the man doing it and saying he had done it.

The man’s defence lawyer asked the court to dismiss the case against him, arguing it was unclear whether all the charges were connected to his alleged involvement.

Íris faces charges including stalking, defamatory allegations, document forgery, false accusations and violations of child protection laws. Much of the case concerns alleged offences against her former boyfriend and his partner. She is also accused of offences involving the partner’s parents and brother, two other men and their daughters.

The indictment alleges that Íris threatened the man, repeatedly went to his home, caused damage and created disturbances. It also accuses her of distributing notes warning that he was violent and had a large amount of child sexual abuse material on his computer, and of continuing the harassment through fake social media accounts.
