Olkiluoto 3, a nuclear power plant in Finland, is expected to restart on November 7 after its annual maintenance runs about a week longer than planned, Yle reports.
Operator Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) said additional maintenance needs emerged during the work. The maintenance shutdown began on September 10 and was initially scheduled to end in late October. Extra time is needed, among other things, to service valves.
TVO communications manager Johanna Aho said schedule changes are common during nuclear plant maintenance and that there is no single cause for the delay.
The plant’s annual maintenance in Eurajoki takes place every 18 months. Before the shutdown began in September, Olkiluoto 3 had operated continuously for 498 days. Its next annual maintenance is scheduled for spring 2028.
