Pohde supervisor suspected of illegally accessing confidential data

A high-ranking supervisor at the Pohde wellbeing services county in Northern Ostrobothnia is suspected of crimes involving the unauthorised viewing of personal data, Yle reports.

Police told Yle that the case is connected to the same investigation in which a Pohde family worker was previously suspected.

The family worker’s case is already before the courts. She is accused of unauthorisedly viewing the data of 11 people in the Oulu region in 2023. Prosecutors say she accessed some of the information more than once, and that most of it was confidential data she had no right to view.

Police have now also begun a preliminary investigation into the supervisor, who works at Pohde. The suspected offences are breach of official secrecy and a secrecy offence. The case is expected to be referred to prosecutors for consideration of charges in the coming months.

A separate extensive trial has also begun at the Oulu District Court. In that case, numerous doctors and nurses employed by Pohde are accused of unauthorisedly viewing one person’s data.
