Amanda Lind fears Green Party may be forgotten before election

The Green Party is losing ground in several opinion polls ahead of the election, SVT reports. Party spokesperson Amanda Lind said on Saturday that she was worried voters might support the party in principle but fail to vote for it.

“We have felt very strong support, not least for our climate policy, and we have run a good election campaign with many more members. But we are also a little afraid of this downward trend, that people may forget about us,” Lind said while campaigning in Rinkeby.

Of the opinion polls published on Friday, the Green Party gained ground in only one. In the SR/Indikator poll, it rose by 0.1 percentage points.

Lind pointed to what she described as a tactical struggle involving the Centre Party and the Left Party as one possible explanation for the decline.

“In this tactical struggle, we may have been overlooked a little,” she said. “People cannot take us for granted just because we have performed strongly in opinion polls. They also have to choose to vote for us.”

Expressen reported that the Green Party’s secretary sent an email to senior party figures on Saturday about the decline.

“Now we need to do everything we can both to reverse the trend in the final push and to ensure a change of government,” the secretary wrote, according to the newspaper.

According to Expressen, senior party figures also held two crisis meetings in Stockholm on Saturday. The meetings reportedly included discussions about how to approach voters during the final hours before the election.
