Vandals smash all four windows in parish priest’s car

Monday 2nd November 2026 on 23:45 in Iceland

Iceland, Seltjarnarnes, vandalism

Vandals smashed all four side windows of a car belonging to Bjarni Þór Bjarnason, a parish priest at Seltjarnarneskirkja church, during a spate of damage to nearly 30 vehicles overnight on Seltjarnarnes, mbl.is reported.

Bjarnason is currently in Skagafjörður on an organised trip with confirmation students. His car was parked by the church, and he received photos of the damage on Monday morning. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle.

“I find it first and foremost very sad that people would do something like this. It never occurred to me that this would happen,” he told mbl.is. Town workers were putting plastic sheeting over the windows to keep rain out.

Although insurance generally covers window replacements, Bjarnason said he would have to pay a deductible of 25,000 Icelandic krónur.
