SEV is examining the potential use of nuclear power in the Faroe Islands, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The utility’s construction committee commissioned a memorandum from Faroese nuclear expert Johan Pauli Magnussen, who holds a PhD in nuclear science and works for the UK Atomic Energy Authority.
The memorandum addresses the advantages, disadvantages and challenges of nuclear power in relation to the Faroese electricity system.
Heðin Mortensen, chairman of SEV’s construction committee, said the committee had not yet fully discussed the memorandum. The committee consists of three board members and SEV’s management.
