However, upon examination by the EMPET animal clinic, it was revealed that the cats had been shot. Midtskog found the felines after dropping her daughter off at kindergarten. As she drove home, she spotted one cat by the side of the road and later discovered a second. Distressed by the discovery, she brought them to the veterinary clinic, where staff confirmed they had been abused.
Following the incident, a Facebook post in a local group sparked significant community engagement, with many expressing concern for their own missing pets. The police have received two reports of cats found with gunshot wounds in the region but currently have no suspects in the case.
Animal welfare workers at the clinic expressed their horror at the situation. As investigations continue, police encourage anyone with information to come forward. They have also urged the community to report any injured animals to local veterinarians.
Midtskog, a dog owner herself, has expressed her fears about the safety of pets in the area. She hopes that those responsible for the abuse will seek help. The incident has raised alarm within the community, highlighting serious concerns about animal welfare in the Stange region.
