Direct train departures between Struer and Copenhagen will double from four to eight a day in each direction from 13 December, DR reports.
The increase follows DSB’s takeover earlier this year of operations on the route from GoCollective, which was close to bankruptcy.
“With the transfer to DSB, there is an opportunity to add more departures because train operations can be organised differently,” Transport Minister Signe Munk of the Socialist People’s Party said.
More daily train services have long been requested by residents of western Jutland. DSB’s takeover means that adding trains to the route will now form part of the overall solution, according to the report.
Munk said she expected the change to bring greater stability to the route.
“DSB has the main responsibility, so it will be responsible for organising the railway in the future. But right now, the route is stable, and the connection between Struer and Copenhagen is improved,” she said.
