Environmental group backs nuclear study but urges renewable energy

It is positive to examine different energy options, but studying nuclear power must not prevent the Faroe Islands from developing wind power and other renewable energy sources, Jón Kragesteen, chair of the Føroya Náttúru- og Umhvørvisfelag environmental association, told Kringvarp Føroya.

The Faroese government plans to examine in 2027 whether nuclear power could be used in the Faroe Islands to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
