AGF urges fans to hide colours ahead of match in Poland

AGF has advised its 2,100 travelling fans to keep jerseys and scarves out of sight before Wednesday’s away match against Lech Poznań in Poland, according to a statement on the club’s website.

The Danish club warned supporters to take precautions in Poznań, where local fans are known for their aggressive behaviour. Two officers from Østjyllands Politi have accompanied the Danish fans to assist Polish authorities in identifying potential troublemakers.

Brian Voss Olsen, a police inspector with Østjyllands Politi, said there was no intelligence suggesting an elevated threat but acknowledged the reputation of Lech Poznań’s supporters. “We have of course noted that these are high-risk fans, so preparation is necessary,” he said.

Matthias Bøgeskov Lageri, one of the travelling fans, said he trusted Polish police to manage the situation. “I understand if some are nervous because of Poznań’s reputation, but the Polish police are used to handling bigger matches than this,” he said.

Jakob Emil Beikes, chair of AGF’s fan club, compared the trip to a previous away match at Brøndby Stadium. “If we use the same common sense as we do around Brøndby Stadium, we’ll all come home safely,” he said.

Fans plan to follow the club’s advice and avoid wearing team colours before the match but intend to display them inside the stadium.
