A Stockholm district court has sentenced Jonas Falk to nine years and two months in prison for four counts of aggravated drug trafficking, Swedish public broadcaster SVT reports.

The court found Falk guilty of moving 2.3 tonnes of cocaine from South America to Europe between 2020 and 2021, with prosecutors describing his role as “decisive.” Evidence included encrypted messages from the Sky ECC app, which was cracked by European police in 2021.

Prosecutors had sought a 12-year, 10-month sentence. The court noted the crimes carried a high penalty value but were bound by the 14-year maximum for aggravated drug offences.

Falk, one of Sweden’s most high-profile criminals, was previously acquitted in the major drug case known as “Operation Playa” after an initial 18-year sentence was overturned on appeal.
