Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast for Finland
Severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are expected across much of Finland on Tuesday, according to Yle meteorologist Anne Borgström.
Thunderstorms struck eastern Finland on Monday evening, with new downpours moving in from the south overnight. The Helsinki region may also see storms. Widespread rain is expected, with western areas bracing for 30–40 mm of precipitation, while eastern regions could see 20 mm per hour.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute has issued warnings for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and potential flooding in western areas. Conditions will clear by Wednesday, with only scattered showers in the far north.
Temperatures reached above 25°C in eastern Finland on Monday and may do so again on Tuesday, though rain will keep temperatures lower in affected areas. Wednesday will see temperatures around 20°C nationwide.
