Week starts with thunderstorms and heavy downpours
Finland’s new week begins with a weather front bringing showers, thunderstorms, and continuous rain, according to national broadcaster Yle.
On Monday, the heaviest rainfall is expected in the west, while the east may see intense thunderstorms. Temperatures will mostly stay below 20°C, though clearer areas in the east could reach above 20°C, with parts of North Karelia possibly hitting heatwave levels.
In the evening, rain and thunderstorms will persist in the west and north, with further scattered showers possible in the east. New thunderstorms may also arrive in the south.
Unsettled weather continues on Tuesday, with thunderstorms and gusts focusing on the north and Kainuu, potentially strong. Western temperatures remain below 20°C, while the east will be warmer, with parts of Eastern Lapland possibly seeing heatwave conditions.
By Wednesday, the weather is expected to turn drier.
