Danish family evacuated as wildfires rage in southern France

A Danish family of four was evacuated from Provence in southern France as wildfires spread rapidly through the region, disrupting the summer holidays of thousands.

Mads Vinther Bramm, his wife Mette, and their two daughters had been enjoying a holiday with friends when emergency services ordered an immediate evacuation from a restaurant around 8:30 p.m., according to a report by DR.

Earlier that day, the family had noticed smoke and ash falling near their pool, though authorities had advised them to remain calm. By the time they were forced to leave, flames were visible from their terrace, and emergency alerts sounded on their phones.

“We packed the car faster than ever before,” Vinther Bramm told DR. The family briefly returned to their summer house to gather belongings before fleeing the area. They are now safe, hours away from the fires, and preparing to return to Denmark.
