Firefighters have formally declared the major blaze in Krokstadelva, Drammen, extinguished, the regional fire brigade said Thursday.

Kristin Grydeland of Drammen region fire brigade told Drammens Tidende that the formal end to firefighting efforts would be declared at 10 a.m.

Geir Bodahl, the police incident commander at the scene, confirmed to Dagbladet that the fire was fully extinguished and that emergency crews would begin withdrawing as the day progressed.

“We hope to have the last homes released back to residents by the end of the day,” Bodahl said.
