A new Faroese law on short continuing education in vocational schools does not guarantee specialised support for dyslexic students, including technical aids or other reasonable accommodations, according to a report by Kringvarp Føroya.

Eilif Magnusson Arge, a member of the Faroese parliament for the Republic party, said the omission violates the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Specialised support is currently a standard part of the legal framework for most education programmes, but not all. Without guaranteed access to necessary support, educational opportunities remain unequal for some students.

Most of the programmes affected by the new law are offered at the Hæri námi á Glasir vocational school, including construction, marketing, and financial studies.

Magnusson Arge emphasised that it is not the responsibility of individual schools like Glasir to ensure this support.
