Man sentenced to nine years for weapons and drug possession
A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to nine years in prison by Odense District Court after admitting to possessing two pistols, 10 kilograms of cocaine, 201 kilograms of hash, and attempting to acquire an additional 88 kilograms of hash, according to a statement from Denmark’s National Unit for Special Crime (NSK).
The man confessed to using encrypted communication in August 2020 to obtain the two pistols, which he cleaned of DNA evidence before burying them in a box. Police believe the act was carried out in collaboration with unnamed accomplices.
The man was among three arrested in May this year during an operation targeting individuals suspected of facilitating serious organised crime on the island of Funen. He accepted the verdict.
Special prosecutor Jacob Gents of NSK welcomed the sentence, stating that the man had quickly confessed to multiple instances of serious and organised weapons and drug-related crimes. The investigation had produced clear evidence, leading to the lengthy prison term.
