The Kainuu welfare region in Finland has proposed launching co-determination negotiations covering its entire workforce, aiming to achieve permanent savings of around €8 million by 2027, according to a statement reported by Yle.
Tiina Veijola, the region’s personnel director, said the talks seek structural and operational solutions to balance finances and reduce personnel costs. A preliminary estimate suggests the required staffing impact corresponds to roughly 120 full-time equivalent positions, though this does not directly equate to the same number of redundancies.
The region employs about 4,000 people, contributing to some 3,400 full-time equivalents. Details of this year’s savings measures will be announced later as they are finalised.
