A high school in northern Denmark has asked parents to hold back on asking about exam grades and simply congratulate their children after final exams.
With nearly 50,000 students set to graduate, Hjørring Gymnasium has launched a campaign urging families to prioritise celebration over results, reports DR.
“The last exam is a huge relief, so it can be disheartening when the first thing they hear outside the exam room is, ‘What did you get?’” said study counsellor Mie Guldhammer Weinkouff.
She noted that students often feel pressure to perform until the very end, making it difficult to enjoy the milestone of graduation. While students may share their grades if they choose, the school emphasises that it should be on their own terms.
“Becoming a student is an achievement in itself. This is a time to celebrate our bright and capable young people,” Weinkouff added.
