Kattakaffihúsið, a cat café on Bergstaðastræti in central Reykjavík, will close on August 23 after nearly nine years, mbl.is reports.
In a Facebook post, the café thanked everyone who had visited over the years, including those who adopted cats, enjoyed coffee there or waved to the cats through the window.
The café said regular customers had fostered and loved more than 170 cats over the years. The cats are still looking for permanent homes, and the café said it was confident they would soon find loving families. The café will remain open until August 23 for visitors who want a final coffee and goodbye. Supporters can donate through the café’s fundraising page.
