The 18-year-old man who confessed to killing Tamima Nibras Juhar in Oslo last August told police he laughed during the attack because he “found it funny,” Dagbladet reports.

Djordje Wilms, now on trial, admitted to stabbing the 34-year-old woman at least 69 times at a post-release facility on Kampen, though he later disputed the count, claiming he “only” stabbed her 20 to 30 times. “That investigation is just nonsense,” he told the court.

Police officers who arrested Wilms hours after the killing described his demeanor as “surreal.” One officer testified that Wilms smiled as he explained he had “completed his mission” by killing Juhar, whom he called “an infectious parasite.” The officer, with years of experience, called it “one of the strangest things I’ve encountered in my career.”

Wilms was detained after a taxi driver, unable to collect payment, alerted police. Officers recognized him from an alert issued following the killing. At the time of arrest, he carried a bag with a helmet and visor, and a hunting knife was found in his pocket. Bloodstains were visible on his clothes and hands.

During questioning, Wilms detailed his plan to travel to Hedalen to steal weapons from a former foster family before attacking a mosque in Hønefoss. He abandoned Juhar’s car at the scene, saying he “couldn’t stand the smell,” and continued on foot before taking the taxi.

Prosecutors played recordings of Wilms describing how online violence radicalized him, though he now claims to have changed his views. He refused to fully recount the killing, calling it “too horrible,” but admitted laughing as he attacked Juhar in a staff room. When pressed, he repeated, “I thought it was funny.”

Juhar’s brother, Anwar Nibras Juhar, attended the hearing, where graphic crime scene photos were shown to family members upon request.
