Five Danish restaurants received their first Michelin star Monday evening at the Nordic Michelin Guide awards in Copenhagen’s Tivoli Concert Hall, while Kadeau earned a third star, bringing Denmark’s total to 42 starred restaurants with 53 stars.

The new one-star recipients include two Copenhagen establishments—Lille Mølle in Christianshavn and Akmé in Nordhavn—as well as Nordhavn’s Esse, Aalborg’s Bach & Nurup, and Skagen’s Okê. The latter two mark a rare recognition for North Jutland, noted Jesper Uhrup Jensen, former editor of Gastro magazine. “Provincial restaurants are often overlooked,” he told Ritzau. “You never know how much the inspectors travel.”

Jacob Lauridsen, restaurant manager at Skagen’s Okê, called the star “a validation of everyone’s work,” emphasizing its significance for staff across Ruths Hotel. “It shapes our self-perception,” he said.

Kadeau’s promotion to three stars—joining Geranium and Jordnær—restores Denmark’s count of top-tier restaurants after Noma’s closure. Including the Faroese restaurant Paz (two stars), Danish establishments now hold 55 Michelin stars in total.
