Police unclear which laser damaged russ student’s eye
Police in Norway have not yet determined which of several light sources on a seized graduation bus caused a student to lose sight in one eye, prosecutor Hanna Hurv Nilsen of the Agder police district told Dagbladet on Thursday.
“Several light sources need to be examined, and it has not yet been clarified which one or ones may have caused the injury. For that reason, police cannot release details about the laser now,” Nilsen said.
Earlier this week, police confirmed they had impounded a russ bus after a graduating student was blinded in one eye by a laser on the night of May 16–17. The bus is to be inspected on Friday.
Police said they will receive assistance from the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) and the Electrical Safety Authority (El-tilsynet) during the examination.
The injured student was admitted to the ophthalmology department at Sørlandet Hospital in Arendal following the incident.
