Princess Madeleine co-creates animated family series for SkyShowtime
Swedish Princess Madeleine has co-created a new animated television series set to launch later this year on the streaming service SkyShowtime, SVT News reports.
The series, titled “Hidden Islands,” is described as an adventure series for the whole family, designed to encourage children to explore nature and spend more time outdoors. It will consist of 20 episodes, each seven minutes long.
Princess Madeleine developed the project together with Karini Gustafson-Teixeira, with whom she previously collaborated on the children’s book “Stella och hemligheten,” published in 2019.
“Karini Gustafson-Teixeira and I began developing this project during Covid, inspired by the love we share for nature, children, and storytelling,” the princess said in a statement.
The series follows three children who end up on a mythical archipelago harbouring a great secret, one that will change their lives. It is the first animated original series produced for SkyShowtime.
“Our goal was to create an animated story steeped in adventure while conveying important messages about sustainability, survival, and care for the planet. It is wonderful to see how the story will now reach so many children through SkyShowtime,” Princess Madeleine said.
“Hidden Islands” is produced by Oya Copenhagen, previously known for the animated children’s series “Mias magiska värld,” and is directed by Danish filmmaker Peter Egeberg.
Princess Madeleine returned to Sweden with her family two years ago after living abroad for several years. Alongside her royal duties, she launched the skincare brand Minlen last year.
