Faroese economic council retains sole authority over thematic reports
The Faroese Economic Council will maintain full control over its thematic reports, with no external body permitted to request or influence their content, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Under current law, the council is required to produce two economic forecasts and multiple thematic reports annually. However, the government had proposed reducing this to one economic forecast and one thematic report per year, arguing it would allow the council to focus its limited resources more effectively.
The finance committee rejected the proposal, upholding the existing legal requirement. The annual economic forecast must be published by 1 March, though no fixed date has been set for the thematic report.
The council itself will determine which issues to address in its thematic reports, without interference from the government or other institutions.
