The government program outlines a commitment to ensure that those training to become healthcare assistants receive a salary during their education. The Minister of Education, Djóni Nolsøe Joensen, stated yesterday that he has begun efforts to fulfill this promise outlined in the government document. However, uncertainties remain regarding the specifics of this initiative, including the amount of the salary during training and whether it will be funded by the national government or local municipalities.

The training for healthcare assistants lasts 15 months, while training to become a nurse extends an additional 22 months.

According to Bingerð Fosságil, chairwoman of the Healthcare Workers Association, it is crucial for both educational programs to be integrated into the same payment system for those in training.
