Major highway resurfacing to cause delays on Finland’s E18 motorway
Finland’s largest roadworks project of the summer will begin in early May on the E18 motorway between Muurla and Lohja, national traffic agency Fintraffic announced on Friday.
The 200-kilometre resurfacing operation will start on 4 May, with one lane closed in each direction between Lempola and the Lehmihaa tunnel. Work will continue day and night, with lanes and ramps closed in phases as the project progresses. In tunnels, most work will take place during off-peak hours between 6 pm and 6 am.
Traffic will be directed onto adjacent lanes in both directions, but Fintraffic warns that journey times will increase due to the temporary arrangements. The resurfacing is expected to last until late June, with final road markings and finishing work continuing into July.
Drivers are advised to check the free Liikennetilanne service for updates on disruptions, durations, and special traffic arrangements. The project is being carried out by Tieyhtiö Ykköstie Oy and its contractors.
