Faroese MP Hervør Pálsdóttir wants parliament to consider amendments to the abortion law before a committee report is ready, Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) reports.
Parliament is due to vote on Monday on whether to bring back amendments proposed by the Centre Party to the new abortion law. Pálsdóttir, a member of the Legal Affairs Committee handling the matter, has asked for it to be returned to the chamber.
The committee has had the case since 24 September and requested an extension until 4 November. It decided on 23 October to prepare a report, but none was presented at Wednesday’s parliamentary session.
The vote on Pálsdóttir’s proposal is scheduled for the start of Monday’s session. Under parliamentary rules, an MP can ask the speaker to put to a vote whether proceedings should continue even if no report has been submitted.
