Two charged with illegal threats against multiple Säpo-protected individuals
Two people are suspected of making illegal threats against several individuals under the protection of Sweden’s Security Service (Säpo), Swedish public broadcaster SVT Nyheter reports.
The threats were allegedly made in April this year, targeting multiple protected persons, who may include politicians or government officials. Vice Chief Prosecutor Per Lindqvist confirmed the investigation but declined to specify which individuals were threatened.
“I cannot say which protected persons are involved, but there are several,” Lindqvist told SVT.
Both suspects remain at large but are still under investigation. They have been questioned by police and assigned legal counsel, according to Lindqvist, who heads the National Security Prosecutions Unit.
Säpo provides protection to high-risk individuals, including ministers and other public figures, though authorities have not disclosed further details about the case.
