Finland’s unemployment rises with 30,000 more jobless than last year
Finland had 30,000 more unemployed people in March this year compared to the same period in 2023, according to the latest labour force survey by Statistics Finland.
The unemployment rate stood at 10.4 percent in trend terms, slightly down from 10.5 percent in February. The number of employed individuals aged 15–74 decreased by 22,000 compared to last year, with the employment rate for those aged 20–64 at 75.5 percent.
In total, Finland had 2.524 million employed and 315,000 unemployed people in March. Of the unemployed, 169,000 were men and 146,000 were women. The number of people outside the labour force remained unchanged from last year, at 1.334 million.
