Heavy snowfall has blanketed roads in Norway’s southern Agder region, with authorities urging motorists—especially those on summer tires—to avoid driving, Dagbladet reports.

Snow began falling early Friday, creating hazardous conditions on major routes including the E39 near Mandal and Rekevik, the E18 in Kristiansand, and regional road 4 at Stemmen. Traffic operator Stine Hansen of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration confirmed reports of difficult driving, particularly south of Kristiansand, including in Lindesnes, Flekkefjord, and Lyngdal.

“It’s snowing, yes. We’ve received reports from areas around Lindesnes, Flekkefjord, and Lyngdal,” Hansen said. By 8:40 AM, images showed snow accumulating in Kristiansand, though no incidents had yet been reported to the traffic control center.

Hansen emphasized that drivers still on summer tires should reconsider travel. “You must adapt to the conditions. If your tires don’t meet requirements, you shouldn’t be driving right now,” she stated, advising morning commuters to allow extra time and adjust their speed to the weather.
