The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has updated its warnings for Storm Dave, with the storm now expected to hit a larger area of southern Norway earlier than initially predicted, Dagbladet reports.

The latest forecasts show the storm system taking a more southerly path, bringing extreme wind gusts of 38–42 m/s to parts of Rogaland and Agder. The coastal stretch from Karmøy to Oksøy is expected to be hardest hit.

Revised warnings Meteorologist Julie Solsvik Vågane confirmed the adjustments to Dagbladet, noting that the storm is now projected to arrive one to two hours earlier than previously forecast. Key changes include: – Kristiansand downgraded from red to orange alert level – The orange warning zone extended further inland – Orange alerts now cover parts of Telemark and Østfold

Despite the adjustments, the storm remains severe. “We see the low-pressure system moving slightly further south than yesterday’s models showed. The areas facing the strongest impact remain at red alert level—this is still an extreme weather situation,” Vågane said.

Winds extend inland The updated forecast indicates that strong winds will reach further into Telemark, prompting adjustments to yellow and orange warning boundaries. Østfold’s southern coast may experience gale-force winds, with gusts of 25–35 m/s expected in the southernmost regions.

Emergency preparations At the Red Cross station on Sinnes in Sirdal, Agder, around 40 people are preparing for the storm, with some delaying their return home. Eirik Sivertsen, at the station, stressed that rescue teams will not deploy unnecessarily during extreme conditions.

“Our priority is the safety of our own personnel. We’re following Red Cross guidelines and avoiding all unnecessary risks,” Sivertsen said. He added that local ski lifts and outdoor activities have been suspended, with authorities urging residents and visitors to stay indoors.
