Court of Appeal upholds Jethro Rostedt’s tax fraud sentence

The Court of Appeal in Turku has upheld media personality and entrepreneur Jethro Rostedt’s tax fraud conviction, Yle reports.

The prosecution had sought to replace the suspended prison sentence imposed by the district court with an unconditional sentence. Rostedt, in turn, appealed for a reduced punishment.

In autumn 2025, the Southwest Finland District Court sentenced Rostedt to one year and eight months in suspended imprisonment and 90 days of community service. The sentence covered three aggravated tax fraud offences and one tax fraud offence.

The prosecution had already sought an unconditional prison sentence in the district court.

The case was handled as a confession-based trial after Rostedt admitted the offences in court. The Tax Administration was the injured party and sought compensation of 599,238 euros. Rostedt accepted the accuracy of the compensation claim in the district court.

The district court took into account Rostedt’s status as a first-time offender and his active participation in clarifying the case.
