Danish travellers plan record Easter holidays abroad
Danish travellers are preparing for Easter getaways in unprecedented numbers, according to a new survey by national broadcaster DR. Nearly half of all Danes intend to travel abroad during the upcoming holiday, marking the highest figure recorded for the Easter period.
The survey reveals that 47 percent of respondents have booked or are planning trips outside Denmark, with southern Europe—particularly Spain, Italy, and Greece—ranking as the most popular destinations. Short-haul flights and package tours dominate the bookings, though some families are opting for road trips to nearby Germany or Sweden.
Travel agencies report a surge in last-minute bookings, attributing the rush to favourable weather forecasts and competitive pricing from airlines. Industry analysts note that pent-up demand following pandemic-era restrictions continues to drive travel enthusiasm, even as inflation pressures household budgets.
Easter falls early this year, with schools closing for a full week in late March. The alignment of school holidays and mild spring weather has likely contributed to the travel boom, according to tourism experts.
