Air quality in Finland has deteriorated to poor or even very poor levels in many areas due to seasonal street dust, according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute.

The institute reported that Friday evening saw the highest street dust concentrations of the year so far, with the problem expected to persist in southern and central regions during the coming week. While rainfall is forecast for Wednesday, meteorologists say the limited precipitation will bring little relief.

Street dust can cause symptoms such as runny nose, coughing, and irritation of the eyes and throat. The pollen season has also begun, potentially compounding respiratory issues.
