A 40-year-old woman is suspected of defrauding victims—including private individuals and businesses—by fabricating health-related claims to secure loans, Finnish police report. The total financial damage may exceed €800,000.
Western Uusimaa Police have completed their preliminary investigation into the case, which involves around 50 criminal reports, according to a statement released on Monday. The suspect allegedly deceived victims by providing false information about her health to borrow money between April and November last year.
Detective Chief Inspector Jyrki Kallio, leading the investigation, stated that most victims were acquaintances or close contacts of the suspect. Individual loan amounts ranged from hundreds to tens of thousands of euros. Police suspect the funds were transferred to accounts controlled by the woman before being moved abroad.
